Hi guys

It’s beauty box time again!   If you’re new to the You Beauty Box, you can find out about how the subscription works, how you can choose some of your own samples and the price in my post here.  The theme for the April box was Natural and Organic.  I was quite excited to hear that, as I love trying those kinds of brands!

Lip Monthly Rumours – LM Finally Speak Out!

Hi guys

This is a follow-on post from one I wrote a few days ago.  If you haven’t already read that one, this won’t make much sense, so have a quick read and I’ll wait here for you!  As I mentioned in that post, Lip Monthly subscription service is often discussed on beauty groups and in the makeup-loving world!  I subscribed to them for around six months and personally had NO issues whatsoever, but my interest was peaked by all the stories I was hearing, so I decided to do some digging.

Lip Monthly - Are The Rumours True? Lip Monthly Speak out!

In response to my previous post, a few people commented with their own personal experiences.  Rather than reproduce them here, just click into my initial post and scroll down to the comments at the bottom to see what has been said.

After my previous post was published, Lip Monthly got in contact with me by email to discuss the content.  Their email was very friendly, reasonable and in no way confrontational.  They wanted to tell me some of the reasons behind what has been happening, and were happy for me to share this information publicly.  Rather than paraphrase everything they said, I am going to paste the majority of the email below:

Lip Monthly Subscription – Are The Rumours True?

[UPDATE ON 14 APR 16! Lip Monthly have contacted me addressing all these issues in great detail. Find that post here!]

Hey guys

Although I have stopped getting the Lip Monthly subscription, it is something that is often discussed on the various beauty groups I am in on Facebook.  This subscription service seems to have a lot of rumours flying around online, and sadly quite a few people have had negative experiences with them.

I first subscribed to Lip Monthly in August 2015.  Pop over to this post and have a quick read about how it works, cost and shipping to the UK… I’ll wait here for you! 🙂  This beauty bag caught my eye as it is almost solely lip products.  Lip products are my favourite kind of makeup products as I love experimenting with bright coloured lipsticks and different finishes and brands, so it seemed the ideal subscription service for me.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they ship to the UK, and shipping costs aren’t even high ($5)!

Bursting into Spring with Super-Bright Nails!

Hey guys

I don’t know about you, but the sunny weather in the UK last week really got me excited about spring and summer!  I love warm weather, and am always counting down to the end of winter (well, once Christmas is over anyway).

I decided to ‘shop my stash’ and see what I had that was pretty, bright and perfect for bringing my nails into spring!  I got these two nail polishes last year, at the same time.  I’ve only ever worn them separately, but looking at how pretty the colours are together in these photos is tempting me to use them together as part of one mani.  Maybe coral with a pink accent nail?

The gorgeous, bright, hot-pink is Nails Inc Brook Street.  I find colours like this so easy to wear!  It looks just as great on toenails as it does on the fingers. It’s a nice, smooth consistency that needs just two coats to look great.  They have updated it to the squared bottle since last year, and sadly it is now £14 instead of £10!

The bright, orangey-coral is Nails Inc Porchester Place.  I love this colour!  It’s almost a neon-coral in some lights.  I wear colours like this loads in the spring and summer, as they add such a lift to any outfit and the brightness makes me smile!  As with Brook Street, the consistency is smooth and two coats is sufficient.  This is still on sale in the same bottle style I have, for £10.

I tend to find that Nails Inc nail varnishes are a little disappointing in how long they last before chipping – as they are fairly expensive, you always expect them to last a bit longer.  Although they last 3-4 days, which is fairly average.  I really like using the Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Flawless Base Coat underneath, as it definitely does make them look nicer and last a little bit longer without chipping.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I do think Nails Inc polishes are a bit too expensive – especially now that the new ones are £14.  However they often come free with magazines, or in gift sets or beauty advent calendars etc, which is how I got most of mine.

What do you think of these colours?  Which nail polishes do you tend to wear in the spring and summer?  Let me know in the comments!  PS this post is in no way sponsored – thought I’d better say that, since I have mentioned Nails Inc a million times haha!

Fancy reading some more…?  Have a look at all my nail looks using Nails Inc polishes here!
